What the Canvas Agent can do
- Read analytics charts, event taxonomy, and cohorts.
- Create or update charts, cohorts, and feature flags.
Honeycomb reviews each tool in a connector and gives it a default permission.
Until you set your own tool permissions, these defaults apply:
- The Canvas Agent runs reviewed read-only tools without asking.
- For reviewed write tools and destructive tools, the Canvas Agent asks you to approve each call.
- The Canvas Agent does not run deprecated tools.
Before you connect
The Canvas Agent connects to Amplitude through the Amplitude MCP server, which has these requirements:- Amplitude turns on MCP access for all users by default. An Amplitude organization admin can turn it off in Settings > Content Access > MCP.
- To create or update charts, cohorts, and feature flags, your Amplitude role must include the Use MCP (write) permission.
- Your Amplitude project must be in the same region as your Honeycomb Team. Honeycomb EU connects to Amplitude EU, and Honeycomb US connects to Amplitude US.
